Nov. 16th at 5 o'clock, did not come as a surprise to her relatives and friends, for she had been in a critical condition for some time and no hope of recovery. Death was due to tuberculosis. Mrs. Rexrode's maiden name was Bird, a daughter of the late George Bird, and she has many relatives in the county. We doubt not that our Back Creek correspondent will, in due time, furnish a fitting sketch of her life and family. Died in the Blue Grass district of Highland. Parents George H. & Matilda Bird. Elizabeth married Arthur Beverage This is the death notice of her husband Samuel Rexorde Highland Recorder January 17, 1919 S.B. REXRODE DEAD Mr. Samuel B. Rexrode, well-known resident of Highland died Saturday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs Gardner, in McDowell. He had been in ill health for several years, was not in vigorous health, at least and a few weeks ago suffered a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Rexrode was a native of the county, son of the late Andrew Rexrode and was approximately 70 years of age. His wife, who was Miss Missouri Bird, died several years ago as did also one son, Sammie. Surviving him are the following children: Sully B. and George Rexrode, living at Valley Center, Misses Maizy, Ruth and Esther, of the same place, and Mesdames Harper Beverage and Edward Stuart, of West Va. Mr. Rexrode spent most of his life in the mercantile business in Highland, much of the time in a clerical relation and was a successful and popular salesman. He was an interesting conversationalist, keeping well up on current events at all times. Funeral services were held at McDowell Sunday morning.
