A daughter of the late Charles Hiram and Maude Metts Williams, she was a graduate of Winthrop College and received her master's degree from the University of South Carolina. She was a retired teacher and principal of Ridge Spring-Monetta High School after 41 years and was assistant superintendent of Area 4 Aiken County schools. Read More	Ridge Spring, SC – Mattie Lee Bonnette died Tuesday, September 29, 1992. Mrs. Bonnette was the wife of the late A. Roy Bonnette. A daughter of the late Charles Hiram and Maude Metts Williams, she was a graduate of Winthrop College and received her master's degree from the University of South Carolina. She was a retired teacher and principal of Ridge Spring-Monetta High School after 41 years and was assistant superintendent of Area 4 Aiken County schools. She was state president of Delta Kappa Gamma, director of Western District of Winthrop Daughters and a member of Winthrop College Alumnae Executive Board and the Columbia branch of the American Association of University Women. She was dean of Ridge Spring Community College and helped establish the Grace Frontis Scholarship Loan. She was teacher of the year in both Saluda and Aiken counties, was president of Ridge Spring Garden Club and organized the care of Ridge Spring Cemetery. She was a member of Ridge Spring Book Club, Garden Club, Study Club and Ridge Spring Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Jean Holston; brothers, C.B. Williams of Charleston and Sen. Marshall Williams of Orangeburg; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held Thursday, October 1, at Ridge Spring Baptist Church with burial in Ridge Spring Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ridge Spring Cemetery Fund. Cumbee-Palmer Funeral Home was in charge.
