His death was due to a heart ailment from which he had suffered for the past four years. Born on a farm in Fulton county, Feb. 16, 1876 the son of J. R. and Margaret (MARTIN) SHELTON, he had resided in Fulton county all of his life with the exception of thirty years when he lived in Indianapolis. He returned here from Indianapolis four years ago to make his home. Mr. Shelton was married to Anna Zoe BRACKETT, Novemer 28, 1900. They would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary next Tuesday. Mr. Shelton was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Orak Shrine Temple, Hammond and the Columbia Club at Indianapolis. Mr. Shelton for a number of years was a partner in the Progress Wholesale Grocery Company in this city with his father-in-law, the late L. M. BRACKETT and his brother-in-law, the late Charles C. BRACKETT. The firm was located in what is now a part of the Topps Manufactring Company building at Main and Fifth. While residing in Rochester Mr. Shelton was apppointed on the Indiana State Prison Board which position he resigned when named state purchasing agent for Indiana state owned institutions by the late Gov. James L. Goodrich. Later he formed the Shelton Vapor Stove Company and the Duplex Steel reinforcement Company at Indianapolis. Mr. Shelton was long active in state and Fulton county Republican party circles. He served several terms as Fulton county G.O.P. chairman. Surviving are the wife [Anna Zoe SHELTON], three sons, Lyman B. SHELTON, Newport News, Va.; Maurice M. SHELTON, Detroit, Mich., and Richard M. SHELTON, Indianapolis, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. J. Gordon HYDE, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
