Maurice C. Thompson of Monticello and Engelwood, FL died Thursday, April 13, 1995 at the Engelwood Hospital from cancer. Maurice Corll Thompson was born May 22, 1913 on the Thompson family farm in Delaware County, the son of James and Ursalena (Arduser) Thompson. He received his education in the Buck Creek Consolidated Schools where he graduated in 1932. He then started farming in Delaware County. Maurice C. Thompson and Mildred Thompson were married Feb. 15, 1933 at the United Methodist Church, Galena, IL. The couple farmed in Delaware County. Maurice also operated the school buses for the Buck Creek Consolidated Schools. He retired from farming in 1975. He worked for Tuloma and Swiss Valley Co-op until he retired from there in 1978. Since 1979, the couple have wintered in Engelwood, FL, and spent their summers in Monticello. Maurice was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Blanche (Doc) Donovan of Mount Dora, FL; a granddaughter, Dr. Pamela (Kurt) Berens of HOuston, TX, and two great-grandchildren, Donovan Patrick and Pauline Margaret Berens. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene of Muscatine and Calvin of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Ruth Baldwin of Clarence. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clarence and Lloyd. Casket bearers were Donald Bacon, Roger Smith, Robert Garner, Phillip King, Gary Wilson and Doug DeShaw.
