He was born on October 17, 1934 to Richard and Gladys Ferne (Marsh) Hancock in Williams County, Ohio. He was a 1952 graduate of Ney High School. Hancock, 83, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Mercy Hospital of Defiance. He was born on October 17, 1934 to Richard and Gladys Ferne (Marsh) Hancock in Williams County, Ohio. He was a 1952 graduate of Ney High School. On January 31, 1953 he married Marguerite (Williams) Hancock, who preceded him in death on October 16, 2015. Maurice was the owner and operator of Maurice Hancock Construction Company. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, a life member of Eagles #372 in Defiance, and was a Tiffin Township Trustee for 25 years. Maurice played in various bands since the age of ten. He enjoyed traveling, especially out west, and he loved his family and spending time with them. Maurice will be greatly missed by his sons, David (Sharon) Hancock of Napoleon, Douglas (Debra) Hancock of Defiance, Dennis Hancock of Defiance, and Gary (Christina) Hancock of Stryker, daughter, Angela (Todd) Benz of Berthoud, CO, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and brother, Richard Hancock of Moose Lake, MN. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Levi Hancock. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 10th, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 25950 Nagel Road, Defiance, with Pastor Rich Renter officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evansport Cemetery.
