Mrs. Jansen was the former Maxalinda Suing, who was born Jan. 6, 1894, at St. Helena, to Joseph and Josephine (Becker) Suing. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington. She taught in the St. Helena area until her marriage to John J. Jansen August 29, 1916, at St. Helena. He died July 20, 1974. She lived in the Fordyce area until 1984 when she moved to The Cedars Nursing Home in Hartington. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and St. Boniface Ladies Guild. Survivors include five sons, Leonard, Clarence and Elmer, all of Fordyce, George, Crofton, and Martin, Hartington; five daughters, Mrs. Francis (Angela) Leise, Yankton, SD, Mrs. Claudius (Loretta) Schulte, Mrs. Marvin (Rita) Sudbeck and Mrs. Leo (Lorraine) Schulte, all of Hartington, and Mrs. Alfred (Clara) Rolfes, Wynot; two brothers, Clarence, Hartington, and Erwin, St. Helena; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Ann Hoebelheinrich, Yankton, Adeline Suing and Mrs. Rudolph (Mary) Hochstein, both of Fordyce, Mrs. Ray (Felicitus) Schmidt, St. Helena and Mrs. Ivan (Lavina) Kramer, Hastings; 81 grandchildren and 83 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 10 grandchildren and two brothers.
