She was 88. Miss Truitt was a member of the First Methodist Church, and of the Sunflower Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by Rex Truitt, a great nephew, and by great great nieces and nephews. She taught in the Chanute school system for 25 years after her 1884 graduation. She moved here in 1878 with her parents, Mr. and mrs James Truitt, from her Portsmouth, Ky., birthplace. Mrs Truitt was born, Feb. 13, 1869. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Koch Skinner Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Judd Jones officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. September 30, 1957, page 3 Funeral Services Truitt - The funeral service for May Truitt, who operated the Truitt's Greenhouse in Chanute for approximately 25 years, was held in the Koch-Skinner Memorial Chaple this morning at 10. The Rev. Judd Jones officated and burial was in Elmwood cemetery. Bearers were Leslie Cable, Roy Chapple, William Gough, George Palen, Gordon Barker and George Barker. Mrs Dave Petterson was the organist and played "Largo" and "Going Home."
