Description	:	MAY MARSH STEADMAN May Marsh Steadman was born in Cold Water, Michigan, on September 14, 1867, the daughter of William Z. and Harriett Marsh. She departed this life at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa on September 2, 1954, at the age of 86 years and 8 days. She moved to Brooks, Iowa from Honey Creek, Iowa at the age of 6 years residing there until her marriage September 14, 1884 to William E. Steadman of Villisca, Iowa. They moved to a farm northeast of Nodaway where they resided 48 years, later moving to Brooks, where Mr. Steadman passed away... She departed this life at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa on September 2, 1954, at the age of 86 years and 8 days. She moved to Brooks, Iowa from Honey Creek, Iowa at the age of 6 years residing there until her marriage September 14, 1884 to William E. Steadman of Villisca, Iowa. They moved to a farm northeast of Nodaway where they resided 48 years, later moving to Brooks, where Mr. Steadman passed away on January 9, 1934. Four children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They are Guy Steadman of Villisca, Iowa; Ralph Steadman of Nodaway, Iowa; Hattie Thomas of Corning, Iowa; and Orville Steadman of Brooks, Iowa. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 son-in-law, and 3 daughters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, 1 brother, 1 sister, and 4 half brothers. She united with the Methodist Church in Brooks, Iowa at the age of 15, and was a faithful member until her health failed. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Brooks Methodist Church on September 25, 1954. Rev. Frank Jacobs preached the sermon. Rev. Boose offered prayer. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery. Pall bearers were John Mitchell, Gilbert Rider, Harold Neill, Henry Kernen, Ernest Lawrence, and Paul Rider. Adams County Free Press, Corning, Iowa, Thursday, September 30, 1954, page 8
