Maye married Louis Anton Koenig Feb 21, 1913 at the M.E. Church, Kirkman, IA, Rev. F.G. Bean officiating. They moved to Modale, IA where they rented a farm owned by H.C. Smith through 1929. They purchased the farm northwest of Whiting in 1925 and moved there in Feb 1930. Louis built the barn on that farm and finished it before they moved there. They built the house currently on the farm in 1942. Daughter Luella and Wayne Steinhoff were married there June 25, 1944. Louis passed away in 1949 and Maye continued residing at the farm until 1952 when son Delbert married Esther Dietrich. She moved to Harlan, IA where she worked at the memorial nursing home for a time and also lived at Onawa, IA for a time. She built a new house at Sloan, IA in 1960 where she remained until becoming a resident at the Battle Creek, IA nursing home. She became quite feeble, broke her hip, and passed away at Burgess Memorial hospital in Onawa. She was a member of the UCC church and Order of Eastern Star at Sloan. Survivors include three daughters; Ethel (Charles M) Tippens, Sloan; Eunice (Alvin) Jones, Bittburg, Germany; Luella (Wayne) Steinhoff, Hornick; one son, Delbert (Esther) Koenig, Whiting; two brothers, Harry Rank, Kimball, SD; Ben Rank, Harlan, IA; four sisters, Nancy Gaer, Harlan; Ethel May, Omaha, NE; Sadie Dickson, San Diego, CA; Alice Nelsen, Atlantic, IA; 14 greandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Maye was preceded in death by husband, Louis Anton; daughter, Thelma; and parents Charles H and Margaret “Maggie” Johnson Rank, Kirkman, IA. Services were held Feb 3, 1973 at the United Congregational Church, Sloan with Rev Victor Engelmann officiating. Mrs. Glenn Miltenberger was organist. Bearers were Glenn Miltenberger, Lael Steinhoff, Paul Koenig, Raymond Horner, Herbert Miller, and Harvey Mathias. Interment at Whiting Cemetery.
