Read More	Thelma Koenig (60405377) Suggested edit: Onawa Democrat, April 30, 1936 Thelma L Koenig Passes Away Miss Thelma Lucille Koenig, daughter of Louis Anton and Maye Rank Koenig, was born July 29, 1916 in the Koenig home east of Modale, Iowa. She moved with the family to the farm northwest of Whiting, Iowa in February 1930 and graduated from the Whiting school in 1933. Thelma was a happy girl and could always meet everyone with a smile. Because of this personality and the conscientious application of effort, after her graduation she was chosen as secretary to the superintendent of schools in which capacity she served faithfully for two years. Out of this experience she saw the possibilities of secretarial work and was preparing for this by attending summer school at a Sioux City business college. Thelma had always been a healthy child and it was with considerable shock that both parents and friends were brought to realize the seriousness of her condition in June of last year. She had never been one who complained, a fact which probably accounts for her serious condition when her sickness was first discovered. She was immediately taken to the Sanitarium at Ottumwa IA where she received the best of car at the hands of doctors and attendants. She passed away about 2PM April 18. Besides her mother and father she leaves three sisters; Ethel, Eunice, Luella and a small brother, Delbert. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Tuesday April 21 at 1:00 o'clock. Rev. Chas Stevens officiated. Pallbearers were Bill Ames and Ethan Dowden of Sloan and Robert Huff, Elliott Gulick, Edwin Gustafson and Dallas Hall. The floral offerings wee many and the church was filled to overflowing. Mr. and Mrs. L A Koenig were called to Sunnyside Sanitorium at Ottumwa Feb 23. Mr. Koenig returned home after a few days but Mrs. Koenig remained for two months until the end which was a great comfort to Thelma.
