Daily Ledger Monday June 14, 1943 PEARL BALL, 63, WELL KNOWN IN FAIRFIELD, DIES Had served as matron of ladies rest room for past 12 years Pearl BALL, who has served as matron of the ladies rest room in Fairfield for the past 12 years, passed away suddenly at her home 502 North Main street, about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. She had been in poor health for the past few months but her death was unexpected. Funeral services will be held at the Hoskins funeral home Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairfield Abbey. Miss BALL was born October 23, 1879 in Glasgow, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.C. BALL. Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by one brother. She had many friends in Fairfield and Jefferson county, having served as matron of the ladies rest room since it was established 12 years ago. Miss. BALL was an active member of the Methodist church. She was a member of the Philathea Sunday school class, and also a member of the American Legion Auxillary of which she had served as president a few years ago. She had lived in the home where she passed away for 43 years. Although she hadn't been as well as usual during the past few weeks, she attended church and Sunday school yesterday. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Paul McLEAN and Mrs. Cora B. CASE, both of Fairfield. ------- Transcriber note: The Fairfield Abbey Mausoleum was closed in the mid-1960s and those individuals that were not claimed by family were reinterred in the 2nd Addition at Evergreen Cemetery. The individual in the above obituary was one of those who were reinterred. Present burial plot at Evergreen Cemetery: Old.P.078 Note: Melissa Pearl Ball shares the plot and headstone with her parents, Lewis Cass BALL and Evaline FISHER BALL. They were originally buried at the Fairfield Abbey Mausoleum as well and were reinterred under the same circumstances described above. The plot that this BALL family was buried in is also the same plot that belongs to Hester BALL McLEAN (sibling of Pearl; known as Mrs. Paul McLEAN) and her family.
