Description	:	BERN --- Melvin Gustav Bredemeier, 91, formerly of Bern, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at a Topeka nursing home. Mr. Bredemeier farmed and raised cattle near Bern until four years ago. He helped organize the Rural Water District No. 3 in Nemaha County and served many years on the Nemaha Township Board. He also served several years in the Nemaha County Assessor's office in Seneca in the 1970s and 1980s. Read More	BERN --- Melvin Gustav Bredemeier, 91, formerly of Bern, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at a Topeka nursing home. Mr. Bredemeier farmed and raised cattle near Bern until four years ago. He helped organize the Rural Water District No. 3 in Nemaha County and served many years on the Nemaha Township Board. He also served several years in the Nemaha County Assessor's office in Seneca in the 1970s and 1980s. He was born March 23, 1910, on a farm north of Seneca, the son of William and Matilda Lange Bredemeier. He attended rural school near Seneca. He moved to Topeka after he retired from farming. Mr. Bredemeier was a member of Frieden's United Church of Christ near Bern. He married Elnora Rinne on July 25, 1934, near Bern. She preceded him in death. Mr. Bredemeier also was preceded in death by a son, Max Bredemeier. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Peters, Topeka; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Frieden's United Church of Christ near Bern. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Mr. Bredemeier will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wherry Brothers Mortuary in Pawnee City, Neb. Memorial contributions may be made to Frieden's United Church of Christ or to the Heart of America Hospice in Topeka and sent in care of the mortuary.
