Marcotte, 76, of Vermillion died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Sioux Valley Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, S.D. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Hanson Funeral Home in Vermillion. Mel was born April 2, 1928, in Vermillion, to Leo and Dally (Seally) Marcotte. He graduated from Vermillion High School. He married Dorothy Trudeau on May 29, 1950, in Vermillion. He worked for the City Light Plant and Clay Union REC before moving to Sheldon, Iowa, in 1967. He started the Power Lineman Program at NITC in Sheldon and was an instructor for that program until his retirement in 1990. He moved back to Vermillion with his wife in 1991. She died in 2000. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing, pheasant hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; a sister, Ruth Lynch; and a brother-in-law, Warren Morse.
