Description	:	Morris Leo Marcotte, age 93, was born in Vermillion, SD, the son of Leo and Dallie (Sealey) Marcotte. He attended school in Vermillion, graduating in 1941. Morris trained as a machinist and worked in a Portland shipyard. He served in the United States Navy as a radio man from 1943 to 1946. He returned to Vermillion and attended the University of South Dakota. Morris married Shirley Bensen on August 14, 1949, in Vermillion. Read More	Morris Leo Marcotte, age 93, was born in Vermillion, SD, the son of Leo and Dallie (Sealey) Marcotte. He attended school in Vermillion, graduating in 1941. Morris trained as a machinist and worked in a Portland shipyard. He served in the United States Navy as a radio man from 1943 to 1946. He returned to Vermillion and attended the University of South Dakota. Morris married Shirley Bensen on August 14, 1949, in Vermillion. After receiving a Master’s Degree in Mathematics, he came to Worthington, MN in 1959, where he taught at the college for 30 years. He was selected Teacher of the Year and also was named Outstanding Faculty Member. Throughout his life, Morris loved to dance, was active in athletics, coaching high school basketball and football. He also coached college golf, the sport he loved and excelled in. He loved spending time at their cabin along the Missouri River which was a hay barn that he remodeled himself. Morris died on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN. Morris is survived by four children, Michael Marcotte of Rushmore, MN, Mark (Mary Jo) Marcotte of Sioux Falls, SD, Mitchell (Lisa Montagne) Marcotte of Sioux Falls, SD, and Mary (Scott) Oberloh of Worthington, MN; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Corinne, Jacob, Morgan, Mason, Maxwell, and Alyssa; one great grandchild, Jaxton; sisters, Ferne Morse and Betty Schmidt, and one brother, Roger (Susan) Marcotte. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dallie Marcotte; sister, Ruth Lynch; brother, Melvin (Dorothy) Marcotte, and brother-in-law, Warren Morse. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN. Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion, SD. Burial will be held in the St. Agnes Cemetery in Vermillion, SD.
