She was the wife of the late Captain Ruey V. Sarty. She was born in Conquerall Bank, February 18, 1898, the daughter of the late Jacob and Laura (Backman) Whitman. She was predeceased by brothers, Samuel and Carman and their wives. Her devotion to the things of the Lord was always in evidence and her faith gave strength and courage to face the issues of life in a resolute way. Also, her optimistic outlook gave meaning and support to those around her. Above all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and faithful friend. The care and well-being of her family was always her main concern. She is survived by her children Arnold (Gwen), Bridgewater; Dorothy, Saint John, wife of the late Rev. Seth Crowell; six loving grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Doug Porter assisting. Burial will follow in Pleasantville Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Bridgewater, Pleasantville Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
