Description	:	Merlin Albers The funeral for Merlin H. Albers, 79, of Wisner will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. He died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at his residence. He was born on the family farm north of Wisner in Wayne County to Erich and Stella (Korth) Albers. He attended Wayne County Rural School District 4 and graduated from Wisner High School in 1944. Read More	Merlin Albers The funeral for Merlin H. Albers, 79, of Wisner will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. He died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at his residence. He was born on the family farm north of Wisner in Wayne County to Erich and Stella (Korth) Albers. He attended Wayne County Rural School District 4 and graduated from Wisner High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 during World War II. He returned to the family farm. He married Janice Stewart on June 13, 1948, in Wisner. After their marriage, he farmed and raised livestock north of Wisner for 22 years. They moved to Pender in 1969 and opened the PoPos Drive in Restaurant and operated it for 11 years. In 1980, they moved to Wisner, where he was a shareholder in the Albers Dehydrating Plant, working there until it was sold in 1985. He returned to farming until retiring in 1992. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, serving on the church council when the new church was built. He was a member of Wisner American Legion Post 85. He formerly had been a member of the Cuming County Feeders Association and Pender Chamber of Commerce. He also had served as a 4-H leader. Survivors include: his wife; children, Collins (and wife, Renee) Albers of Grand Island, Jane (Mrs. Keith) Thomsen of Pender and Todd Albers of Omaha; a sister, Dorolynn (Mrs. Dennis) Walchek of Wisner; a brother-in-law, Leo "Bud" Meyer of Wisner; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister. The Rev. Alan Baglien will officiate Saturday's service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue from 9 a.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be in Wisner Cemetery.
