Friday of last week, while in the performance of his duties, Michael Manion fell down on the sidewalk in a fainting condition. His ailment was heart trouble, superinduced by the grip. He was conveyed to Mr. Hettinger's drugstore, where restoratives were applied and when his condition permitted he was taken to his home. During the afternoon he appeared to be somewhat easier and hopes for his recovery were entertained. During the night he grew worse and at 2 o'clock Saturday morning he passed peacefully away. Mr. Manion possessed a strong, robust constitution, and until January, when he was attacked with the grip, we do not remember of him ever being sick. He had run a job wagon and delivered goods to our merchants for years, was kind and frank to all, honest in his dealings, and had the respect and good will of every one. Michael Manion was born in Schenectady, N. Y., in 1832, and at the age of 14 came west, and was a freighter on the plains for a number of years. Was married at Leavenworth, Kansas, to Miss Mary Zule March 14, 1866, and later moved from Leavenworth to this city where he has resided for the past 21 years. He leaves a grief stricken wife, three sons and two daughters and a large circle of warm friends to mourn his death. 1880 Humboldt, Allen, Kansas Michl.
