Born at Secor, Woodford county Illinois on March 12 1856, Mr. Weisbrod was closing his 79th year and he lived in this community 60 years or ever since he was 19. He married Verona Bollinger here in 1879 and they celebrated their golden wedding in 1929. Broke Hip Last Fall Diabetes was a contributing cause of death following a fall last November in the basement of the Weisbrod home in which he suffered a broken hip and a broken shoulder Shortly after the accident, he was taken to his son, E.C.'s, where he remained in care of a registered nurse till death. In the funeral services Mr. Witter sang the same two songs that he sang for Mrs. Weisbrod's funeral last September. Pall-bearers were Frank, Donald, Walter, Elmer and Edward Weisbrod and George Bollinger. The services drew a great audience which included persons from Algona, Whittemore, Lone Rock, Burt, Emmetsburg and Ringsted. Mr. Weisbrod had for many years been Fenton's best known citizen. For a time after marriage, he farmed miles 81/2 east of the present town site, later on what is still known as the Mike Weisbrod place a mile east of town. In 1905 he built a modern home at Fenton and lived there till the accident of a few months ago. Supervisor Two Terms Besides serving two terms more than 30 years ago as supervisor and for many years as Fenton State bank president Mr. Weisbrod in his later years managed the Farmers elevator here. Mr and Mrs Weisbrod had four children – Arthur, Minnie, Gilbert, and Emil-but only Emil is living. Other direct descendants are Mrs. Joe McGovern of Whittemore, grand-daughter, and her son Michael James. William and Phillip Weisbrod of Fenton were full brothers, Charles, Theodore and Louis Weisbrod, Fenton and George Weisbrod of Oklahoma were half-bothers and Rose Weisbrod and Mrs. John Wallace, Fenton were half-sisters. Mr. Weisbrod had always been a leader in the Fenton Methodist church and for some 50 years he was a Sunday school teacher. He had served in various church offices. His parents were Jacob and Christine Weisbrod and he was their fourth son.
