Description	:	Jacob Weisbrod, Jr. was born in St. Joseph, Illinois on 15 December 1849. He was the second son of Jacob, Sr. and Christina Weisbrod. Jacob and his older brother Peter married sisters from Switzerland while living in Illinois. Two of Jacob's younger brothers, John and Mike, married two more sisters after the family moved to Iowa. Jacob and his older brother Peter married sisters from Switzerland while living in Illinois. Two of Jacob's younger brothers, John and Mike, married two more sisters after the family moved to Iowa. Jacob married Ursula Bollinger (born 08 March 1853) sometime in 1874 in St. Joseph, Illinois. The Jacob, Jr and Peter Weisbrod families moved to Kossuth County, Iowa in 1875. Jacob's farm is one mile south of the town of Fenton and was registered as a "Century Farm" in 1984 by a grandson who still lives on this farm (2001). (This grandson died in 2008.) Portraits of Jacob and Ursula hang in the living room of the farm house. The marriage produced eight children- four sons and four daughters: Mary (1875-1940), Lydia (1877-196?), Emma (1879-1963), Elmer (1882-1952), Ernest (1883-1955), Benjamin (1888-1959), Clarence (1890-1968), and Irene (1896-1960). Information taken from a great granddaughters family history book. Jacob Weisbrod Dies Suddenly Jacob Weisbrod of Fenton was stricken with a stroke of paralysis Friday, February 4. He passed away at the home of his brother Peter at Fenton a couple of days afterwards. The funeral was held the following Tuesday. Mr. Weisbrod was 60 years of age. He was one of the substantial and influential citizens of Kossuth County. He was industrious and frugal and leaves an estate valued at $50,000. Ten brothers survive him. The Democrat sympathies with them in the sudden loss of their oldest brother. newspaperarchive.com/emmetsburg-democrat/1910-02-16 *************************************************** Jacob Weisbrod Dies Sunday Unexpected Stroke of Paralysis Results in Death Algona people who know the Weisbrod's of Fenton were startled Monday to learn that Jacob, the oldest but one of the brothers was dead. It seems that Mr. Weisbrod suffered two or three light strokes of paralysis within the past year or so. Friday as he was on the way to visit the school, in which he is a director, he was seized with a severe attack. In a few moments he became unconscious and never rallied, dying Sunday.
