Description	:	Mildred Elizabeth Meyer, 104, of Wayland died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Parkview Home in Wayland. Born Dec. 17, 1905, in Wayland, she was the daughter of William M. Kauffman and Suzanne Nafziger. On Aug. 19, 1931, she married Allen Roth Meyer. He died in 1980. Mrs. Meyer farmed with her husband in the Wayland area, moving to Wayland in the late 1950s. She worked for Magdefrau Dry Good's Store in the 1920s and McCleery Cumming in the 1950s and 1960s. She attended Maple Grove and Wayland High School. She was a member of Wayland Mennonite Church where she served in the... Read More	Mildred Elizabeth Meyer, 104, of Wayland died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Parkview Home in Wayland. Born Dec. 17, 1905, in Wayland, she was the daughter of William M. Kauffman and Suzanne Nafziger. On Aug. 19, 1931, she married Allen Roth Meyer. He died in 1980. Mrs. Meyer farmed with her husband in the Wayland area, moving to Wayland in the late 1950s. She worked for Magdefrau Dry Good's Store in the 1920s and McCleery Cumming in the 1950s and 1960s. She attended Maple Grove and Wayland High School. She was a member of Wayland Mennonite Church where she served in the Women in Missons and sang with several singing groups. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed entertaining and preparing food in her home for family and friends and spending time in the timber and on the farmland. Survivors include two sons, Jim Meyer and Rich Meyer; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Wayland Mennonite Church where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service for Mrs. Meyer will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wayland Mennonite Church with Pastors Kelly Slagel and Pam Unruh officiating. Private family burial will be in North Hill Cemetery prior to the service. A memorial has been established for Iowa Hospice. Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements.
