Description	:	Mildred Beamer Dry was born Nov. 9, 1914 in Dubois. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Pawnee City high school in 1933. She took Normal training and passed the state examination to earn a teaching certificate. She started teaching in one room schools in Nebraska and attended summer school every year working on a degree. Eventually she taught in town schools until the war was over. She had met Paul Dry in Chester, when he came home from the Merchant Marines. When the war was over and the servicemen came home, they were married June 2, 1946... Read More	Mildred Beamer Dry was born Nov. 9, 1914 in Dubois. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Pawnee City high school in 1933. She took Normal training and passed the state examination to earn a teaching certificate. She started teaching in one room schools in Nebraska and attended summer school every year working on a degree. Eventually she taught in town schools until the war was over. She had met Paul Dry in Chester, when he came home from the Merchant Marines. When the war was over and the servicemen came home, they were married June 2, 1946 at the Presbyterian Church in Pawnee City. They were on the road for 7 years, giving assembly programs to schools. In 1954 she went back to teaching in Beatrice. She taught 6th grade there for 24 years and earned her B.S. degree in education. When she retired in 1979 she had taught school for 36 years. She belonged to Alpha Delta Kappa, the Teachers' Honorary Sorority; eventually she became the state president. As a result of that, she received a plaque naming her in the Nebraska Hall of Fame. After retirement, she and Paul moved to Bella Vista, Ark. where they lived for 20 years. They were charter members of the Bella Vista Presbyterian church. She enjoyed working at the Bella Vista Library. Survivors are her daughter and husband, Barbara and Stewart Betz of Bentonville, Ark., grandsons, CJ Betz of Lincoln, Capt. Justin Betz(USMC) of New Bern, N.C., and 4 great grandchildren, Austin Betz, Brianna Betz, Allison Betz and Kylie Betz of Lincoln. Memorials to Bella Vista Presbyterian Church.
