Description	:	Mildred Viola (Sproul) Eastman, age 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Center in Riceville. Mildred was born on February 17, 1918 in Montezuma, IA to Charles ,and Zephra (Grubb) Sproul. As a child she moved with her family to Northern Iowa where her family farmed. Mildred met the love of... Read More	Mildred Viola (Sproul) Eastman, age 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Center in Riceville. Mildred was born on February 17, 1918 in Montezuma, IA to Charles ,and Zephra (Grubb) Sproul. As a child she moved with her family to Northern Iowa where her family farmed. Mildred and her sisters had a dog named Trixie Lindenberg Tippy Hu Dan Peter Saul Dagen and the name of the dog provided many laughs throughout the years as her grandchildren and great grandchildren would try to repeat it. Mildred met the love of her life, Dale Eastman, when he started working with her dad on the family farm. Mildred and Dale were united in marriage on August 15, 1936 in Osage, IA. They lived in several places around Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa. Three children were born into this union, Norma, Donald (deceased shortly after birth), and Linda. Mildred helped Dale on the farm and also worked at Seneca Foods Corp., formerly known as Libby's, in Rochester, MN. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, whether it was at someone's home or at the nursing home when they started getting older. Mildred loved to dance and she had very fond memories of her dancing days. However, the most important thing to her, and the thing that brought the most joy, was her family. Grandma Dale, as she was known to her family, loved to smile and laugh and she especially loved to share her chocolates and candy with anyone who wanted some. She was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and over the years she attended hundreds of family events. She was always spoiled by her family as she was a special gift to all of them. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Norma Shoger of Riceville, IA, son-in-law Jerry Mack of Waukee, IA, sister Sally (Leland) Everett of Bricelyn, MN, grandchildren Steven (Carolyn) Shoger of Nora Springs, IA, the late Douglas (Theresa) Shoger of Northwood, IA, Roxanne (Bob) Dvorak of Riceville, IA, Suzanne (Rick) Graves of Grinnell, IA, Nathan (Tammi) Shoger of Laurel Hill, NC, Stacie (James) Calby of Des Moines, IA and Barry (Theresa) Mack of Grimes, IA, 19 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Eastman in 1976, her son Donald Eastman and daughter Linda Mack, son in law Stanley Shoger, grandsons Jay Mack and Douglas Shoger, great granddaughters, Amy Mack-Enbree and Carissa Calby, her parents, Charles and Zephra Sproul, a brother Vincent Grubb, and sisters Leatha Spencer, Verda Errington, Maxine Klassen and several brother- in- laws and sister-in-laws. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville. Service: 10:00 am on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Riceville United Methodist Church, 308 Woodland Ave., Riceville with Dr. Donna Ihns officiating
