OBITUARY Millicent Fern Jackson was born February 9, 1890 in DuBois, Nebraska. She has always lived here with the exception of five years spent in Wyoming. She died July 28, 1904 making her age 14 years, 5 months and 14 days. Last Saturday evening this community was greatly startled by the sad news of the death of Millicent Jackson. This death was almost wholly unexpected and but few realized how serious her illness. She was taken ill Monday night but not deemed dangerously so until Friday night when she rapidly grew worse dying Saturday evening at 8 o'clock. Millie, as she was known to us, was a patient sufferer from that dread disease appendicitis which ended a beautiful young life bright with promise. She possessed an unselfish, joyous, loving disposition, was always kind and cheerful and her friends were legion. Truly of her may be said, "None knew her but to love her." Millie was a member of the Methodist Sunday School, of the Epworth League and of the young people's choir, and took a lively interest in these things. She was industrious, painstaking and efficient in her school work and a great favorite with all. She was laid to rest in a beautiful casket laden with floral tributes placed by loving hands. The funeral cortege was preceded by all the children of the Methodist and United Brethren Sunday Schools to the M. E. Church where at 3:30 P. M. a beautiful service was conducted by Rev. W. A. Albright his text being the latter clause of John 1:21. Interment was made in the DuBois cemetery all the children participating in the service at the grave.
