Read More	Wenatchee World - Saturday, July 2, 2011 Milton Russel Carpenter Tyler, TX Milton Russel Carpenter, 82, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011, in Tyler, TX, after a recurring battle with cancer. He was born in Azwell, WA on July 29, 1928, to Harry S. and Mary N. Carpenter. He was a graduate of Pateros High School, class of 1946, and of Washington State University, Pullman, WA, with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. He married Alice Mae Pitts on August 12, 1950, in Chelan, WA. After college, he was employed by Farmers Home Administration in Wenatchee, WA and then worked as an Extension Agent in Okanogan County, WA. In 1959, he took a position in Wenatchee with Chevron Chemical Co. and began a 30-year career with sales management positions in Portland, OR and Modesto, CA. Milt and Alice retired in the northwest, living in Chelan and East Wenatchee, WA for 14 years and wintering in Mesa, AZ. Milt was an avid golfer and sportsman who camped, hunted and fished across the Pacific Northwest, Montana and Canada. He attended Eastmont Presbyterian Church in East Wenatchee, and Grace Community Church since moving to Tyler, TX to be near family in 2005. Milt was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Jon Carpenter; his parents, Harry S. and Mary N. Carpenter; his sister, Eleanor Harris; and his brother, Virgil Carpenter, all of Chelan, WA. Milt was dedicated to his wife of 60 years, Alice Mae Carpenter. He was a wonderful father and "Poppa" to his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Russell Earl Carpenter of Tyler, TX; and his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tom Morse and his granddaughters, Amy Christine Morse and Rachel Allison Morse, all of Flint, TX. Other survivors include his brother, Les Carpenter of Chelan, WA; his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Jerry Collins of Woodburn, OR; sisters-in-law, Marcelle Carpenter and Erleyne Jackson, both of Chelan, WA; sister-in-law, Barbara Parrett and her husband, Howard of Spokane, WA; sister-in-law, Vicki Kottas and husband, Mitch of Lewistown, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Milt Carpenter was held on Friday, July 1, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at the Grace Community Church Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Mr. Carpenter will be Interred at a later date in the Chelan Fraternal Cemetery in Chelan, WA. Memorials may be made to Grace Community Church, 3215 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, TX 75701; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123- 1718.
