Coulter passed away at the family home east of Stratford Saturday morning, after an illness covering more than a year and which was brought on to her following an attack of the flu. Nervous trouble couple with anemia was the immediate cause of her death. Last fall she was some improved in health and went to Eagle Grove to visit with her sister and her daughter. About a month ago she was taken again seriously ill and was brought to her home and from this last illness she never rallied. Pneumonia later developed which hastened the end. Mrs. Coulter was a member of the Methodist church and a Christian woman. She was a loving and faithful wife, a good mother, a respected neighbor, and she will be missed by many friends. The bereaved husband and children have the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in this their sad loss. Mrs. Mina Nickerson Coulter was born at Winona, Minn., May 5, 1863 and passed away Feb. 17, 1923, at the age of 59 years, 9 months, 12 days. When Mrs. Coulter was 5 years old her family moved to this neighborhood. Here she has thus lived practically all her life. In 1879 she was united in marriage to W.E. Coulter and eight children were born to them, 6 boys and two girls. One of the girls died in early infancy. The other daughter is Mrs. Jessie Mutti of Eagle Grove. The sons are: Roy W. of Webster City, George, Earnest, James, Fred and Leo of Stratford. Deceased also leaves two sisters, Mrs. George Baker of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Gertrude Hyatt of Des Moines and one brother, Albert Nickerson of Pickering, Mo. Eight grandchildren also survive here. Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. C. Hammer and interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery. A very beautiful part of the burial service was that the six sons acted as pall bearers, carrying the remains of their mother to her last resting place.
