M. SMITH DIED HERE TODAY Funeral Monday Afternoon At Two Oclock From Her Daughter's Home Mrs. Minerva J. Smith, who suffered a stroke of apoplexy Tuesday evening and who has been in a critical condition since, died today noon just at 12 oclock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marion Shearer, 302 South Second street. The funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two oclock from the Shearer home in charge of Rev. H. Sears Thomson of the Presbyterian church. Burial will take place in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Edwin and Polly Benedict and she was born in Bethel, Conn., October 17, 1841. She was united in marriage to F. D. Smith (sic. Swift B. Smith), who passed away September 1, 1899 in Ewing, Neb. To this union were born six children, three daughters having passed away. Two daughters and one son survive: Mrs. Marion Shearer of this city and Mrs. Elwell Johnston (sic. likely Emily Johnston, # 138753300, but needs confirmation) of Ewing, Neb.,, and Edward Smith of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. Sarah Benedict of this city and Mrs. Lydia DeKellogg of Syracuse, New York.
