Long Illness Fatal To Mrs. Henry G. Poppe Mrs. Minnie Poppe, wife of Henry G. Poppe, and mother of Mrs. C. M. Crandall, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Crandall, just before six o'clock, Friday evening, October 3. Mrs. Poppe had not been well for a year and for several months was confined to her bed. Recently she had been some better but had a relapse on Thursday and gradually grew worse until the end came. During her long illness she had the tender care of her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Crandall. Minnie L. Bredemeier, daughter of Carl and Charlotte Bredemeier, was born May 23, 1880, at Steinauer, Nebraska, where her early life was spent. She was married in the Friedens Evangelical church, Seneca, on December 18, 1900, to Henry G. Poppe. Their entire married life of nearly 47 years was spent on the farm north of Seneca. She was baptized in infancy in the Friedens Evangelical church, and was a faithful member of this church and its societies, was active in all its organizations as long as her health permitted. She loved her home and family and found special joy in her grandchildren, Myra Ann and George Crandall. She possessed a Christian quality most commendable, her interest and concern for the poor and needy. She was kind and considerate of all and especially grateful for the care given her in her illness. Besides her husband and daughter and grandchildren, Mrs. Poppe leaves her brother, Carl Bredemeier, DuBois; two sister, Mrs. A. T. Robertson, Roodhouse, Illinois, and Mrs. Caroline Koester, DuBois, Nebraska. The funeral is being held this afternoon. A short service was conducted at the Thornburg and Cline home, Seneca, and one o'clock by Rev. S. B. Parker. The body was taken to the Friedens Evangelical church, north of Seneca, where rites were conducted at 2 o'clock by the pastor of the church, Rev. Lowell Ferguson, and the Rev. H. C. Marlatt of Seneca. Burial will be made in the Friedens cemetery.
