Allen, 81, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1981, in the local hospital. She was born at Damascus, Virginia, on Jan. 25, 1900. When she was 14 months old her parents moved to the Big Bend country in Washington settling in the town of Creston. She attended school there graduating in 1917. Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 30 Sept 1981 Myrtle Allen Died Thursday Myrtle L. Allen, 81, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1981, in the local hospital. She was born at Damascus, Virginia, on Jan. 25, 1900. When she was 14 months old her parents moved to the Big Bend country in Washington settling in the town of Creston. She attended school there graduating in 1917. She attended nurses' training in Spokane. She came to Montana in 1925 and married Howard C. Allen on Nov. 9, 1925. They farmed on the Highwood north bench for over 20 years until moving to a farm in the Pleasant Valley area north of Fort Benton, and had made her home in the later years in Fort Benton. She was baptized into the Christian Church in 1916 and was a faithful active member until her last illness. She taught Sunday school for over 30 years and served as president of the Church Sisterhood. She also served as president of the United Church Women and the Fort Benton Woman's Club and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and Gideon's Woman's Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband; one son, Lloyd; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by two sons, Earl and Donald. Services were held at the First Christian Church in Fort Benton, Tuesday, Sept. 29th. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.
