Read More	Myrtle Douglas November 23, 1930 - September 14, 2021 Indian Land, South Carolina - Mrs. Myrtle Lowder Douglas, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Atrium Health in Pineville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Born in York County, Myrtle was the eldest of eight children born to J.D. and Grace Lype Lowder. Myrtle attended Fort Mill Schools and at age 14, she went to work at the Five and Ten on Main Steet. At 16, she went to work for Springs Mills where she worked for over 20 years. Myrtle married William B. Douglas in 1954 on Valentine's Day. When she was 39, she made a change in course, went to cosmetology school, and started her long career as a hairdresser, first at La Bell Hair Salon and later at New Image. Myrtle was an active member of Pleasant Hill U.M.C. for more than 65 years and was a member of the Indian Land Masonic Lodge Eastern Star. A social butterfly, she enjoyed visiting friends, playing bingo, and had even performed as a clown years ago. She loved to travel and had been all over the world, some places more than once! Myrtle moved to the Blake at Edgewater Assisted Living two years ago and had been very active in that community and enjoyed meeting newcomers and continuing her role as a social butterfly. Myrtle is survived by two daughters, Trish Douglas of Rock Hill and Julie Stavey and her husband, Dale, of Wilmington, N.C.; and two sisters, Clara Lambert and Judy Moore, both of Fort Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband William B. Douglas in 1998 and by her five siblings, Joe Lowder, Mary Elizabeth McClain, Tommy Lowder, Shirley Mason, and James "Bubba" Lowder.
