Myrtle Marie Blader was born August 14, 1914 at Groton to Frederick Lewis and Amelia (Rugotzka) Blader. She grew up in the Groton area and attended Groton Schools, graduating in 1932. She worked as an accountant for 50 years for the Ferney Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Groton. Myrtle was a member of the United Methodist Church, Groton; United Methodist Women, taught Sunday Sschool for many years and sang in the church choir. She and her sister, Margaret also sang duets for funerals and special occasions. She was a member of the G.S. Bridge Club, the Delphian Society, the Aberdeen Civic Music Association, the Aberdeen Area Arts Council and the Aberdeen Community Theater. She was a faithful supporter of the Groton baseball program and the Groton high school athletic and music events. She enjoyed all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to knit for family and friends. She was well known for her large doll collection. She and her sister, Margaret, traveled extensively throughout the United States each year. She is survived by two sisters, Margaret E. Blader, Groton; and Jeanette Blader Reid, Elmhurst, N.Y.; four nephews, one niece, 15 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. Earl Ruden and Earl Lowary were the ushers. The Rev. Dean Trapp was the soloist, singing, “Ivory Palaces” and “In the Garden.” Congregational hymns sung were “Because He Lives” and “God Will Take Care of You.” Casketbearers were Glenn Cooper, Wally Fischer, Clint Hanson, Charles Raap, Orville Schaller and Darrel Sombke.
