Ash, 78, of Route 2, died at her home Friday evening. She had been in failing health for five years. Born Elma Granger, March 4, 1887, near Onawa, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Granger. She received her education in the area of her birth. ON FEB. 24, 1909 in Onawa, she was married to Austin A. Ash, and they always made their home on a farmer in Le Grand township. Preceding her in death were two sons, a sister and a brother. SURVIVING ARE her widower and six children, Rondo Ash of Marshalltown, Mrs. May Walters of Route 2, Mrs. Lawrence Ostrem of Ames, Mrs. Ransford of Marshalltown, Mrs. Lawrence Smith of Garwin, and Herbert Ash, Route 2. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister, and a brother, Mrs. Lucille Haywood of Loton, Mich. and Jessie Granger, Briton, S.D. Services will be from the chapel of Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Dr. James Delahooke, pastor of the First Methodist Church, in charge. Burial will be in the Rock Valley Cemetery.
