John Gilleland of Olean, Mo., wrapping its folds about the body of the beloved wife and mother, Nancy Gilleland, who was born Nov. 27, 1835, united in the holy bonds of matrimony to John T. Gilleland, Sept. 17, 1857. To this union six children were born as follows: Willie, who preceded his mother in death 15 years ago; those living are Mrs. John Miller of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Mrs. Wm. Spalding of Olean; Monroe, of Olean; Mrs. A.C. Stayton of Barnett; and Dr. John Gilleland of Pullman, Washington. She leaves also three brothers, twenty-four grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She obeyed the gospel in early youth under the preaching of Elder Taylor at old Salem Christian Church. She rejoiced in the blessed privilege of seeing all her children in the faith of her Lord. She often spoke of her willingness to go when her Lord saw fit to call her. Funeral services were held at the Olean Christian Church of which she was an ever faithful member. The sermon was preached by Eld. W. H. Scott of Eldon, from John 5:26. A large congregation of friends and neighbors gathered to show respect to the departed and sympathize with the aged companion left behind.
