She was united in marriage to Andrew Welch December 27, 1841. To this union was born eight children six boys and two girls.--James, Mrs. Diana Billings, John, Mollie, William, Burnett, Newt and Andrew Jr. Two of these children preceded their mother to the glory world, Mollie who was the wife of Dr. J . G. Halloway died November 1, 1891 and Burnett died in early childhood. Deceased was converted at an early age and in later years united with the Church of Christ in Christian union and together with her husband continued a faithful and honored member until her death. Deceased with her husband located in Iowa in 1852. They experienced many of the hardships of an early pioneer life, but through thrift and good management they secured a comfortable home in which to spend their declining years. During the last year of her life Grandmother Welch was almost a helpless invalid but friends or family never heard a murmer pass her lips. She seemed fully resigned and to be only waiting for her Heavenly Fathers summons "Child come home." Grandmother's home was always open to friends and strangers alike and many a tired wayfarer has blessed her hospitality. Her children were at her bedside in her last moments except James who has an invalid wife that requires his constant care and attention. While it is a great blow to dear, old Grandfather Welch, who is in his eighty fourth year, yet he bows in humble submission to the will of God knowing that it will not be long until he will be called to join the companion of his youth in that blessed bright beyond. Rev. W. B. Pond, of Milo, had charge of the funeral rites and spoke such earnest comforting words to the sorrowing family and friends after which the remains were laid to rest in Bethel Chapel cemetery. May God in his infinite mercy console and comfort the aged husband, children and grandchildren and may we all strive to emulate the examples set before us by our deceased friend and may we be prepared as she was to meet our Heavenly Father. A Friend.
