Description	:	N. W. Tawes Mr. N. W. Tawes, one of Crisfield's most prominent citizens and business men, died at his home in this city, on Sunday morning. He lacked one day of being 71 years of age. Some months ago Mr. Tawes suffered a stroke of paralysis but shortly recovered. Tawes, one of Crisfield's most prominent citizens and business men, died at his home in this city, on Sunday morning. He lacked one day of being 71 years of age. Some months ago Mr. Tawes suffered a stroke of paralysis but shortly recovered. Two or three months later another stroke came and about two weeks ago he was again stricken for the third time which proved fatal. The deceased was the senior member of the firm of N. W. Tawes & Son, wholesale grocers, of this city. He was a man of the highest character, a christian gentleman, quiet, unassuming and held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was one of the original organizers of Asbury M. E. Church and a man who lived his christianity. To him his church, his home and his community were his first consideration. In his death Crisfield has lost a good citizen, the church an earnest supporter and his family a devoted husband and father. Besides his widow Mr. Tawes is survived by four sons and five daughters: Mrs. Lillie Sterling, Mrs. Lottie Lawson, Mrs. William E. Ward, Miss Effie and Miss Ruth Tawes and Messrs. James B., Orrie L., T. Howard and Vernon Tawes, all of this city. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: Mrs. Mary Laird, Mrs. Noah T. Sterling and Messrs. John P. and O. C. Tawes, all of this city. Funeral services were held at Asbury M. E. Church, Tuesday morning, conducted by his pastor, Rev. E. H. Dashiell, assisted by Revs. H. S. Dulaney, Louis Randall and W. E. Habbart. Mr. Dashiell selected as his text, "A Great Man Has Fallen This Day." The church was crowded to its full capacity with relatives and friends, who had gathered to pay their last tribute to the memory of the deceased. Interment was made in the Asbury cemetery.
