Bud was a... Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Nathan "Bud" Knobloch was born on Sunday; July 25, 1920 near Alvord; Lyon County, Iowa. He was the son of: Jacob and Lydia (Traub) Knobloch. He received his education at Logan #6 Country School in rural Alvord, Iowa. He worked the family farm with his Dad and brothers until the time of his marriage. On Saturday; March 23, 1946 he was united in marriage to Irene Merkel in Elgin; Kane County, Illinois. The couple made their home in rural Alvord, Iowa where they were blessed with six children. Bud was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Bud farmed all his life and he was very fond of working with draft horses, especially the teams he trained. He was able to communicate with horses in a special way and it was a joy to watch him work his teams. He maintained a team for pleasure well into the modern age of tractors. Along with farming Bud had a custom corn shelling business. This gave him the opportunity to work with many of the area farmers. He also liked antiques, especially antique machinery and attended many threshing bees around the country. Going to auctions was a favorite outing for Bud, where he found many valuables over the years. He also liked to make chairs out of old steel tractor seats. Above all, Bud loved his family. His wife and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his true treasures. They will all hold many precious memories of his special sayings, his ability to read the weather the old fashioned way, and sharing ice cream, because, "a little ice cream won't hurt anybody". He was a very special man to many and he will be greatly missed. Nathan "Bud" Knobloch, age 88, passed away on Thursday; August 28, 2008 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids; Lyon County, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife of 62 years: Irene Knobloch. His daughters: Connie Knobloch of La Crosse; La Porte County, Indiana. Kathy J. Knobloch of Sioux Falls; Minnehaha County, South Dakota. His sons: Kelvin (Marion) Knobloch of Illiopolis; Sangamon County, Illinois. Tom (Jeri) Knobloch of Madison; Greenwood County, Kansas. Levi (Vicki) Knobloch of Redwood Falls; Redwood County, Minnesota and Denis (Jackie) Knobloch of Alvord, Iowa. His thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His sisters: Matilda (Elmer) Fehr of West Bend; Palo Alto County, Iowa. Dena (Calvin) Weiss of Sabetha; Nemaha County, Kansas. Eunice Knobloch of West Bend, Iowa. Gladys Knobloch of Lester; Lyon County Iowa and Betty (Clarence) Dietrich of Salem; Marion County, Oregon. His brothers: Arthur (Elgeva) Knobloch of Lester, Iowa and Dale (Mary) Knobloch of Larchwood; Lyon County, Iowa. Also many nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents: Jacob and Lydia Knobloch, his brothers: Edwin and Orvie Knobloch, his sister: Ella Schmidt and brother-in-law: Eugene Schmidt. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday; August 31, 2008 at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Lester, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 10:00 a.m. on Monday; September 1, 2008 at the Apostolic Christian Church. Interment will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
