Description	:	The following courtesy of Cindy Walcott: Mr. Nathan Cutler, another of the early settlers of Glover, came from Craftsbury with his wife, Martha [Blanchard] Cutler, and bought the lot of land where West Glover village now stands. He was attracted to this spot by the water power at the outlet of Parker Pond. He soon commenced the erection of a saw-mill on the spot where the present saw-mill now stands, and soon had it in running order, to the great convenience of the inhabitants of that section of the town. He was attracted to this spot by the water power at the outlet of Parker Pond. He soon commenced the erection of a saw-mill on the spot where the present saw-mill now stands, and soon had it in running order, to the great convenience of the inhabitants of that section of the town. This was the first saw-mill built in town; there has been a mill running there ever since up to this time. The owners of these mills, which have been rebuilt several times, have been besides Mr. Cutler, John Boardman, C.B. Bean, John Coomer, Alonzo Chamberlin, E.O. Randall, E.C. Colby, A.S. Clark and Harvey Lewis, who now owns the mill, cutting out large quantities of boards and shingles annually. Cutler and wife were were industrious energetic people who had a family of six children, three sons and three daughters, and all lived to man or womanhood; he was the first constable elected in Glover. It was his horse that was hitched at the mill when Long Pond ran out; he was out on horseback that morning when he met a neighbor going to mill his grist carrying it on his back, and kindly offered him his horse, and hence the loss of his horse. He died in the prime of his life. His wife lived to be very aged and died in this town; his sons Henry and Charles were business men and did much towards bringing up West Glover. The home is now owned by his grandson [Charles] Cutler, who is an energetic farmer, as his herd of cows will plainly show. Such is a brief history of a family, which the rising generation would do well to emulate in pride of industry, frugality and economy and in making themselves useful members of society in their days' generation [Orleans County Monitor, 26 June 1893]
