Mrs. Beane was born May 9, 1913, in Wilkes County to Nelia Fields Byrd and Thomas Luther Byrd. She was the seventh of ten children. Mrs. Beane was born May 9, 1913, in Wilkes County to Nelia Fields Byrd and Thomas Luther Byrd. She was the seventh of ten children. Mrs. Beane is preceded in death by all her siblings and their spouses, Charlie (Meta) Byrd, Viola (John) Hurt, Fannie (Paul) Melton, Ella (Elmer) Anthony, Vance (Maude) Byrd, Charity (Odell) Couch, Louise (Sam) Bray, Avery (Opal) Byrd and Ralph (Estelle) Byrd. This generation produced twenty-two children. Mrs. Beane married Ralph Wilmoth Beane in 1940. They made their home in the Mountain Park/State Road Community. She had been a member of the Mountain Park Baptist Church for over seventy years where she sang in the choir and was very active in the church and in Sunday School until her health declined. She was a homemaker, she loved her church, her family, and her home. She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph on September 18, 1998. Mrs. Beane is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Steve and Mary Elam of Winston-Salem and two grandsons whom she adored. Mike Elam of Hoschton, Georgia, and Jeff and (Teja) Elam of Denver, Colorado. She was a proud great-grandmother to four little girls: Tiffany, Mia, Eleanor and Maggie Beane Elam. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15 at Mountain Park Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service following at 2:00 p.m. led by Dr. Carl Childs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wishes to thank Betty Snow, the Special Angel that was the caregiver for Mrs. Beane for many, many years. Also we would like to thank the Staff at the Hugh Chatham Nursing Center for the loving care she received for more than eight years that she had lived there. We wish to thank the many residents who lived at Hugh Chatham who were family to her. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care staff for their loving care, support and prayers given in support of Mrs. Beane. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mountain Park Baptist Church Entrance Renovation Fund, 358 Zephyr-Mountain Park Road, State Road, NC 28676. .Johnson Funeral Home is serving the Beane family.
