OBITUARY Nella Marble Hoy was born at Ashland, Nebraska, 1874, and died at Keystone, South Dakota, November 5th, 1923. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Marble, to Deadwood in 1878, later moving to Rapid City and from there to Hermosa where Mr. Marble had a drug store and a ranch on Battle Creek. In the boom days of Keystone the family moved there and put in a drug store, where they have since resided. She was married to Thomas G. Hoy at Hot Springs, June 22, 1899. To this union two children were born, John Marble Hoy and Edith Nella Hoy. The son John, died at Casper, Wyoming, June 5, 1921. Mrs. Hoy had been in frail health for many years and the death of their only son, on whom they built such hopes was a severe tax on her already falling strength, but for her family's sake she bore up bravely, maintaining a patient and cheerful disposition to the end. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and daughter Edith, an aged father and one sister, Mrs. Carson Reynolds of Sheridan, Wyoming, also a dearly loved cousin, Miss Alice Brush, who has made her home with the family since childhood. To attest the respect and friendship in which Mrs. Hoy was held by the whole community, the Catholic Church in Keystone from which she was buried, was more than filled. Father Bonner read solemn mass, assisted by Father Hoy of Edgemont, who gave a comforting and instructive sermon. The beautiful gray casket, with its bed of soft, cream satin and gates ajar, made a fitting place for the repose of her frail body. The floral offerings were many and beautiful from friends and relatives. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. Miller of Spearfish, Mr. and Mrs. William Hoy and Mrs. Mallon of Custer, Joseph Hare and Eugene Little of Hill City, Edson and Mary Monaghan, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. ScanIan and daughter, Marcia, Mrs. Estelle Churchill, Mrs. Jennie Merchant, Mrs. Clyde Stewart, Miss Doris Lintz, Mrs. T. Carlson, Mrs. Pollard, Clarence Pollard, all from Hermosa, Mr. and Mrs. Carson Reynolds of Sheridan, Wyoming, and little daughter, who were there the last two weeks of Mrs. Hoy's illness.
