JORDAN died this morning at 2:30 o'clock at her house, 407 East Burlington Street. She had been in poor health since December 30 last, when she fell and broke her leg. For the past month or more she has been gradually failing and death was a question of only a short time. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the home and the services will be conducted by Dr. W. E. Parsons. The family requests that friends do not send flowers. Nellie E. JORDAN was born in Fairfield January 9, 1871. She was the only daughter of Captain and Mrs. A. S. JORDAN, who preceded her in death and who were among the early and most highly esteemed and honored residents of Fairfield. After her graduation from Parsons college in 1892 she taught in the public schools of Fairfield for a number of years and she brought to her work ability of a high order and an intelligent and conscientious interest in her duties that won her notable success. When she gave up teaching she still maintained an active interest in educational work of all kinds and in all the movements that were aimed at the imporvement, morally and cultually, of this community. She was a member of the board of the Fairfield Public Library, one of the mainstays of the Fairfield Music club, a member of the P.E.O. and her interest in the various college activies was maintained throughout the years. She was active in church work as a member of the Congregational church and when this church ceased to exist she transferred her interest to the Presbyterian church. Miss JORDAN was a woman of true nobility of character, broadened and refined by education an dtravel and by intelligent interest in the larger affairs of the world and active participation in the various movements that improved and build up communities like Fairfield. Loyal in her friendships, active in all good works, she will be greatly missed by the many many people who had grown to admire and respect and love her. Miss JORDAN is survived by only one member of her immediate family her brother A.G. JORDAN of this city.
