Cemetery in Miller, directed by Reck Funeral Home, Miller. Babe Shaw was born June 2, 1930 in Hand County, South Dakota, to George and Sena (Heezen) Shaw. She attended rural school in Hand County and gradutated from Miller High School in 1948. Babe went on to receive her teaching certificate, giving her the opportunity to teach one year of school in rural Buffalo County. She married Dave Edwards on June 20, 1949 at the Lutheran Church in Miller. To this union two sons were born, Danny in 1950 and Doug in 1952. In 1961, Babe and Dave purchased the Wade farm south of Miller where they spent 55 years of married life operating the Edwards Ranch. In November of 2005, Babe entered Courtyard Villa Assisted Living in Miller where she resided at the time of her death. Her greatest joys included doing gardening and crafts, working with flowers and baking. Babe's door was always open to friends, neighbors and family for a good cup of coffee and a little snack to share her many delicious baked goods. She also enjoyed being a member of the Merry Workers Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Miller. Survivors include a son, Doug (Jane) Edwards of Miller; a daughter-in-law, Kim Edwards of Miller; two grandchildren, Tanya of Carver, Minn., and Mike of Miller; a sister, Evelyn "Onnie" Nedved of Woonsocket; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, Danny. The Miller Press 9/7/2006
