Description	:	Victor: Funeral services were held at the McAninch chapel Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Nellie Zirbes, 73, who died Jan. 7 after an extended illness. Rev. Alvin Wetter, pastor of the Baptist church, was in charge of the services assisted by Rev. Frank Veninga of Aplington. Two songs "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" were sung by Arthur Lang accompanied by Mrs. Milton Maack. Mrs. Zirbes was the eldest daughter of Henry and Adelaide Muller and was born Oct. 6, 1879, at Victor. In her teens she was baptized and received into membership of the Victor Baptist church. She was a graduate of Victor high school, a student for two years at Des Moines college and a graduate nurse of the State University of Iowa. As a young woman, Mrs. Zirbes taught school south of Victor. Later after graduating from nurses training she practiced that profession for several years. On Sept. 7, 1913, she was married to Rev. William J. Zirbes by Rev. A. G. Lang, pastor of the Baptist church of Muscatine and Victor. At the time of their marriage Rev. Zirbes was pastor of a church at Cleveland, OH. He later accepted the call to the Evergreen Baptist church at Brooklyn, NY, where he served for 17 years until his retirement. After his retirement, they moved to their new home in Patterson, NJ, where Rev. Zirbes passed away on Jan. 4, 1945. Mrs. Zirbes lived in the home as long as her health permitted, then returned to Victor in March, 1948. She is survived by her stepchildren, Dr. Laura Zirbes of Columbus, OH., Dorothy of New York City, Walter of Buffalo, NY., and George of Murphy, NC; three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Bohstedt, Martha Muller, Mrs. Adelaide Folkerts and Harry, Walter and Louis Muller. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers Henry, John and Herman Muller. Graduated from Homeopathic Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, 1911, and nursed for two years. Married in 1913, lived in Cleveland, Ohio, one year, and for the past fourteen years has lived in Brooklyn, N. Y. Her husband is a clergyman.
