Description	:	Nellie Mae, the eldest daughter of George W. and Mary C. Allen, was born August 5, 1869, at Rockford, Ill. When but two years of age, she moved with her parents to Iowa, settling in Shelby county, where she grew to womanhood. February 20, 1890, she was united in marriage to Willard E. Philson. When but two years of age, she moved with her parents to Iowa, settling in Shelby county, where she grew to womanhood. February 20, 1890, she was united in marriage to Willard E. Philson. To this union were born seven children, two dying in infancy. The other five children, still living are Clark E. of San Diego, Cal., Raymond G. of Mason City, Neb., Mrs. Stella Myrle Grone of Fairmont, W. Ernest of York and Gailard Allen of Broken Bow, Neb. In 1902 she came to Nebraska, living in York county until the death of her husband in 1924. After that time Fairmont was her home until 1951, since which she resided in a rest home in York. Mr. and Mrs. Philson were active in the Methodist church. They helped build and carry on the work at McCool. After the death of Mr. Philson, she attended and worked in the church in Fairmont so long as her health permitted. She had been in failing health for some time. A short while ago she suffered a stroke, from the effects of which she never recovered. Sunday, July 31, 1955, the final summons came, and she sleeps, being aged at the time of her death, 85 years, 11 months and 26 days. She leaves to mourn her loss the five children mentioned above, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Philson and Mrs. T.F. Emmerson, besides more distant relatives. It is worthy of note that a grandson, Clark Allen Philson, died while serving his country in the South Pacific during World War II. In the passing of Mrs. Philson, many friends mourn her going. The funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church in Fairmont, Wednesday, August 3, at 10:30 a.m., the minister, Dr. Charles B. Hankins, officiating. Burial was in the Fairmont cemetery.
