Allen Philson on August 18, 1909, at McCool Junction, and passed away October 1, 1987, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 78 years, one month and 13 days. Allen Philson on August 18, 1909, at McCool Junction, and passed away October 1, 1987, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 78 years, one month and 13 days. He was one of seven children in the family. Gailard graduated from Fairmont High School in 1927. He was employed with the post office in Fairmont for 15 years. Then he worked for Schepers Market as a meat cutter. In 1946 he moved to Grand Island as a meat cutter in the grocery business. During his years in the grocery business, he was transferred to Broken Bow and Lincoln. In 1961 Gailard moved back to Fairmont and operated Philson's Market. The last few years before retirement he was employed by Boren Lumber Company and Jacobsen Transfer. Gailard was married to Jessie J. Patton of Fairmont on November 3, 1928, and to them two children were born. Gailard joined the United Methodist church in Fairmont at the age of 12 years. He had been a member of the Fairmont Volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club. He was the former city clerk of Fairmont and had been head of the barbeque committee at the Old Settler's Picnic for several years. Gailard was preceded in death by a son, Max Philson of Lakewood Colorado; a grandson, Jay Rodysill of Grand Island; his parents; brothers, Howard, Clark and Ray; sisters, Laura and Myrle Grone. He is survived by his wife, Jessie; daughters, Mary Ann Philson and Janice Rodysill; a brother, Ernest; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont on Monday, October 5, with the Rev. Norman Kauble officiating. Mrs. Marvin Swartz accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hall, who sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Peace in the Valley." Pallbearers were Norm Ogden, Dale Philson, Bob Benorden, Bud Daws, Jim Jackson and Gene Jackson. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
