Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with the Rev. Marty Egging officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements. She was born on Oct. 27, 1922, on the family farm southeast of Loup City, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Shuda) Stenka. She married Stanley Woitaszewski on June 12, 1945, in Loup City. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1995. She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Angela Nichols of Grand Island, Phyllis and Dale Wittenbach of Kearney and Darlene Woitaszewski of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Judy Woitaszewski of Lincoln and John and LaVerna Woitaszewski of St. Paul; 12 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Chester Lonowski of Loup City. Nellie attended Sherman County rural schools in the Loup City area. As a young woman, she moved to Wyoming for one year and returned to Loup City to care for her parents. After she and Stanley were married, they lived on a farm five miles west of Loup City until 1947 when they moved into Loup City. She was a homemaker until 1963 when she began as a cook in the Loup City school system. She later worked for St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and rectory and in the laundry department of Sacred Heart Hospital for 10 years. She then retired and cared for her husband until his death. She continued to live in Loup City until 2004 when she moved to Cambridge Court Assisted Living in Kearney. Since 2008, she had resided at St. John’s. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and Rosary Sodality. Nellie enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, gardening, yardwork and cleaning. She loved time spent with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Stanley, she was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Jack Nichols Sr.; brothers, Paul, Ed and Clemence Stenka; sister, Theresa Glenn; stepbrothers, Steve and Leo Stenka; and stepsister, Bertha Morrity.
