He would have been 80 years old January 21. Mr. Coffin was eight years old when his family came to Reno from Yankee Jims, California, where he was born in 1867. Read More	From the Reno Evening Gazette, Thursday, January 16, 1947: NELSON COFFIN DIES AT HOME Resident of Reno for 72 Years Nelson Coffin, member of an early day Reno family, died Wednesday night at his home at 146 Elm Street. He would have been 80 years old January 21. Mr. Coffin was eight years old when his family came to Reno from Yankee Jims, California, where he was born in 1867. He spent his entire life here, where he attended schools and first was employed for many years as a railroad telegrapher. Later he was employed in the old Nevada Bank. He retired several years ago. W. L. Coffin, his father, was a widely known painter in Reno. One daughter survives, Ruth Coffin of San Francisco. He also is survived by a brother, E. B. Coffin, former city councilman and part owner of the old Coffin and Larkin grocery store in Reno. Several nieces and nephews also survive. His wife died here last September. Mr. Coffin was a member of Reno Lodge No. 13, F. & A. M., which will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Ross-Burke Co. chapel. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.
