Description	:	Born June 2, 1913, near Norton, in Saline County, she was the daughter of Marion Francis and Fannie Lee Narron Garrett. Read More	Born June 2, 1913, near Norton, in Saline County, she was the daughter of Marion Francis and Fannie Lee Narron Garrett. She is the second oldest of five full siblings and nine other half sibling - cousins. When Nettie was six and a half, her mother died from complications of the flu pandemic (1920). Marion was left with four daughters and one son, the youngest daughter (Cecil Mae), only six months old. Marion reached out to his family for help. His cousin and her husband, Samuel Nelson and Cora Bell Dulaney Copeland, took Nettie and her older sister (Aubrey Lorene) and raised them as their own. They had no children. The youngest two, Orville Wilmer 'Bill' and Cecil Mae went to live with their grandparents, Charles Henry and Kiziah Jane 'Crizzie' Tumlinson Narron. The middle daughter, Hazel Bernice, lived with other Tumlinson family members in Marshall. After a few years, Marion and Lydia Marie Narron (Fannie's younger sister) got married and started their own family. The eldest of this union, Helen Louise, was born ten years after Nettie. Charles died in 1928, and Crizzie continued to raise Bill and Cecil until her death in 1933. Nettie meet Lowell Westport 'Jack' Crane and they were married November 26, 1930. They had four children, two sons and two daughters. When Crizzie died, Bill and Cecil came to live with Nettie and Jack. They lost Bill on December 7, 1941, as he was assigned to the USS Arizona. Jack sold out farming in the later 1940's and they moved to Slater. Nettie worked a couple of different jobs before becoming the secretary, bookkeeper, and assistant to Dr John Gamby and later Dr Carl Wasson, joined the practice. Sam retired from farming, so he and Cora Bell moved to Slater as well. Nettie had always kept close contact with her 'mamma' and 'papa'. Many of the years Jack and Nettie lived close enough to Sam and Cora Bell to visit with them often. Nettie also kept contact with her father and stepmother, who was also her aunt. Cora Bell and Marion died within a month of each other in December, 1969, and January, 1970. After the death of Marion, the Garrett clan held at least one and often two reunions each year until ill health and age took its toll after 2010. Cora Bell left her house to Nettie. The home was remolded and updated. Jack and Nettie moved in the house in February, 1971. Within a year, Jack started having difficulty breathing, he was eventually diagnosed with emphysema. He was able to recover some, but it eventually took him January 23, 1978. Nettie married George Jett, Jr, on January 6, 1979. They had several good years together, taking a trip to Hawaii, where Nettie got to see where her brother rested. In the spring of 1989, Nettie fell and broke her hip. In preparation for surgery, she had a stroke. She never really recovered, eventually succumbing May 30, 1990, at the Big Bend Retreat in Slater, Missouri. She was buried on her birthday next to Jack.
