Description	:	Newell Wade Tinkey was born on November 8, 1924, in Greeley, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Ruth (Littlebridge) Tinkey. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Edgewood High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and served during World War II. Read More	Newell Wade Tinkey was born on November 8, 1924, in Greeley, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Ruth (Littlebridge) Tinkey. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Edgewood High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and served during World War II. When he returned from his military duty he attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. On June 11, 1952, Newell was united in marriage to Ramona Beatty at the Edgewood Methodist Church. Three children were born to this union. Together they lived their married life in Cedar Falls. Newell was employed by Waterloo Paper Company for thirty plus years, where he was vice-president of sales. He retired in 1990. Newell moved to the Edgewood Convalescent Home on March 25, 2006. Newell passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was eighty-three years of age. Newell enjoyed horses and golfing. Survivors include his wife, Ramona Tinkey of Cedar Falls; his three children, Jody (Roger) Helmrichs of Dundee, Jamie (Dave) Chapman of Denver, Iowa, and Jeffrey (Sue) Tinkey of McCordsville, Indiana; one granddaughter, Michaela Tinkey; one step-grandson, Matthew Chapman; and his sister, Jean (Gene) Ruegnitz of Garber. Newell was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Esther Burbridge. Memorials may be directed to the Edgewood Methodist Church, the Edgewood Cemetery Association, or Alzheimers Association.
