Description	:	Son of Frederick King and Mary Ruffer. Obit of Nicholas King contributed by Austin A. Searfoss: Nicholas King was born in Germany on August 16, 1851. He came to this county at the age of three years, with his parents, who located near Wauseon, Ohio. Afterward they moved to Defiance County where he resided until he grew to manhood. He came to this county at the age of three years, with his parents, who located near Wauseon, Ohio. Afterward they moved to Defiance County where he resided until he grew to manhood. On March 16, 1878, he was married to Mattie Turrittin. Two sons and two daughters came to this home; one son preceeded him in death. In 1882 they moved to Evansport where they have since resided. Mr. King was a hard working man, upright and honest to fellowmen. For many years he supported the U.B. Church and at times gave beyond his means. His home was the home of the minister, who labored on this charge. The latchstring was on the outside and the welcome accorded them made them feel that it was their home. As a citizen he was always at the front to do all that was possible to advance and a good cause, never faltering in giving of his financial as well as his physical strength for any improvement in the community. For the last few years he has been declining in health, but always met his friends with a smile and never burdened them with his afflictions. On November 21, 1924, he answered the final summons of his Lord, and he said, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things; enter thou into the Joy of the Lord." He was 73 years, 3 months and 5 days. He leaves to mourn a companion, two daughters, Mrs. Clara Snider, Defiance Mrs. Elsie Zwayer, Williams County, Ohio, and one son Clark, at home, ten grandchildren, two sisters, and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held from the Evansport U.B. Church Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Townsend, of Stryker. The body was laid to rest in the Evansport Cemetery. CARDS OF THANKS We take this method of thanking our many neighbors and friends for their kindness and help during the sickness and burial of our companion and father.
