Description	:	Nick Thies Buried Here Funeral services were held Monday, March 13, 1950, at 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart church at Ida Grove for Nicholas Thies. The Rev. Fr. Harry Dailey officiated. Burial was at the Odebolt cemetery. Pall bearers were Fred Petersen, Henry Petersen, Albert Huldeen, Joe Roeder, Adam Roeder and Frank Lansink. Mr. Thies died March 9 at 7 p.m. at the Ida Grove hospital. He survived his wife by about a month, she having passed away on Feb. 14. He was born at Sublette, Ill. on August 16, 1868. At the age of nine years he came to Sac county with his parents, living northeast of Arthur. He was united in marriage to Katherine Gronemeyer at Odebolt, Oct 15, 1896 by the Rev. Fr. Huesman. Five children were born to them. A son died in infancy. Those who survive are Mrs. Adam Bieschke (Regina) of Ida Grove; Mrs. Will Schwaller (Genevieve) of Odebolt; Mrs. Ed Dinges (Veronica) of Des Moines and Linus of Arthur. Mr. and Mrs. Thies lived all of their married life on their farm near Arthur. In 1945 they celebrated their golden wedding. This winter, because of will health, they had been cared for at the home of their daughter. Besides the bereaved children, Mr. Thies is survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild., also a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Hartley of Des Moines and a brother, Pete at Burbank, SD
