Mr. Peterson was born in Ockelbo, Sweden, Feb. 8th, 1805. He came to this country in 1857. Shortly after he arrived he buried his second wife. Peterson southwest of town on Sunday, June 13th, Mr. Nels Peterson, aged 81 years, 4 months and 5 days. Mr. Peterson was born in Ockelbo, Sweden, Feb. 8th, 1805. He came to this country in 1857. Shortly after he arrived he buried his second wife. He was the father of 10 children, 7 of whom are now living. He has made his home the most of the time with his son Nels Peterson. His death was very sudden his friends not knowing he was ill until he was about breathing his last. Aged as he was he walked six miles the same day he died. His funeral took place at the M.E. church, Rev. Eagle preached the funeral sermon from Job 7:7-10. Nils Persson (Americanized to Peterson) was born February 8, 1805 at Källsjön, Ockelbo, Gävleborg, Sweden, the son of Pehr Nilsson and Kerstin Johnsdotter. He married first to Anna Olsdotter (1805-1837) in Sweden. They had four children: Karin Nilsdotter (1827-1906) married Anders Hansson. They had two children Hans and Anna. Andrew and Karin Hanson are buried in the Dayton Cemetery. Anna Nilsdotter (1829-1893) married Johan Eric Berggren and they had eight children, Katherine, John, Phillip, Mary, Phoebe, Albertina, Wesley and Agnes. Johan and Anna Berggren are buried in the South Marion Cemetery. Marta Nilsdotter (1832-1904) married John Sonquist and they had five children, John, Robert, Levi, Emma and Charles. John and Marta Sonquist are buried in the Dayton Cemetery. Peter Nilsson Peterson (born 1834) married Anna Stina Berggren. After his wife's death, he remarried to Karin Pehrsdotter (1816-1857) and they had five children: Nils Peter Peterson (1838-1906) married Christina Louise Lindquist and they had seven children, Albert, Francis, Mary Ann, Emma, Herbert, Hilma and Selma. After Christina's death in 1889, Nils remarried to Caroline Hedstrom. Nils and Christina are buried in the Dayton Cemetery. Stina Nilsdotter (1840-1843) was born September 20, 1840 and died December 30, 1843 in Sweden. Jan Nilsson (1842) was born February 6, 1842 and died February 10, 1842 in Sweden. Johan Nilsson Peterson (1844-1927) married Maria Christina Andersdotter Swanson and they had three children, Anna, Frank and Henry. Johan and Maria are buried in the Dayton Cemetery. Stina Nilsdotter (born 1846) married J.W. Sharp.
